Press Release Questionnaire and Information

Congratulations on the publication of your book!

While the production team is working to create the text and cover files for your book, the press department would like to get started on gathering and preparing the promotion and marketing materials. Below is a series of questions designed to provide us with the basic elements we need to create your promotional copy both for the back cover of your book and for the press releases our marketing department will distribute once the book is completed and ready to sell.

Please understand that we will not be releasing the Press Release until the book is in print, we are simply preparing now.

I look forward to receiving the answers to this questionnaire. It is our pleasure to work with you to promote
your book when it is ready.

Best regards,

Ellen Green

Your responses to the follow will be also be used to build a press release that will be issued to your local radio and newspapers. Please do not give just one-word answers. Elaborate as much as you can and don't be afraid of writing too much; for a press release we can never have too much information! Answer these questions as if your local radio news anchor or newspaper reporter were asking them to you; they will be the ones reading the answers.

How long have you been writing?

Would you like to share your age with readers? (Is your age in any way pertinent to your book subject?)

What motivated you to write this book?

Who and/or what inspire you most?

What are your future plans?

Have you started on your next book? If so, please introduce its premise if you are interested.

Where did you grow up?

What community/town/city do you now live in or near?

Do you know if there are other writers in your area? Are you the first published author in your town/region?

Are there any famous authors that inspire you?

Why do you write?

When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer?

Do you ever have problems with writer's block? How do you deal with it?

Do you find it easier to write in the morning or at night? What is your writing schedule?

How did you feel when you finished writing this book?

Do you hope to inspire other writers? What advice would you give for people thinking about writing a book?
What do you do for a living? What is your day job or is writing your day job?
What obstacles have you overcome to write this book?
How long did it take you to write this book?
What research did you do for the book, if any?
Did you draw on life experience to write this book? If so, can you share that experience in brief?
Do you possess a unique quality or talent that might relate to the purpose of this book?
Is there anything else you'd like to tell us? (Possibly about your home, family, life purpose, your community, etc.?)
PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING IF YOU HAVE THEM (IF NOT DON’T WORRY):
